Week 3 was wonderful! I am falling more in love with each of your children. It is so fun to see all of their personalities really shining and getting to know them as individuals. This is a SPECIAL bunch of children and I feel so blessed to be their teacher. We are really starting to settle in to our learning routines and the students are blossoming within the curriculum. I am a huge proponent of content vocabulary so don't be afraid to ask your students to use their "math mouths" or their scientist brains! Upcoming events this week:
August 21: Eclipse- dismissal will be held for 50 minutes. Please see the letter on the home page for information regarding early checkout. 2nd grade students will not be going outside to view the eclipse. We will instead watch a livestream in the classroom. Students who are being checked out need to be checked out before 1:30. If a students is absent on Monday and provide a parent note when returning to school on Tuesday, they will be excused.
August 22: Chick-Fil-A Spirit Night at Vinings 5-8pm
August 23: Fall Picture Day: Students should be in standard attire
August 24: Room Parent Orientation
August 25: All Pro Dads 7am
August 30: Early Release

- Common and Proper nouns- when to capitalize and WHY
- Continued work on the Three States of Matter (Solid, Liquid, and Gas)
- Properties and molecules of each state
- Changes in matter in the absence/presence of heat (freezing, melting, evaporation, condensation)
- Place Value with focus on 3 digit numbers
- Building numbers efficiently and inefficiently (42= 4 tens and 2 ones or 3 tens and 12 ones, 158= 1 Hundred 5 Tens 8 ones or 15 tens and 8 ones etc.)
- Showing a number in various forms (word form, expanded form, standard form, base 10 pictures)
- Number talks will focus on doubles
- Fact fluency within 20
