Read Across America Day is just a few days a way! In an effort to make is a true celebration of literature, our class is looking for volunteer readers to bring their favorite book to share! There is a sign-up genius below for the available times. Feel free to join in on the fun and dress as your favorite book character as well. Please remember, students should come dress as a Laura Numeroff book character or another character of their choice on Friday. Looking forward to a super fun day!

Have a wonderful February break!! I hope everyone finds time to relax and spend time with your family. Please remember to encourage your child to read for at least 30 minutes everyday over break. We will jump right back in to the last few weeks quarter 3 when we return on the 26th.
Read Across America Day, also known as, Dr. Seuss' Birthday is coming up on Friday, March 2nd. In an effort to celebrate, our class has adopted Laura Numeroff books as our theme. You may be familiar with her many If You Give A ____ A ____ titles. Over the break, students may creatively gather things from home to create a costume to represent one of her many books' characters. Below you will find a list of her many titles! Thank you so much for your help! Laura Numeroff Books: If You Give a Mouse a Cookie If You Give a Moose a Muffin If You Give a Dog a Donut If You Give a Cat a Cupcake If You Give a Pig a Pancake If You Give a Pig a Party If You Take a Mouse to School If You Give a Mouse a Brownie If You Take a Mouse to the Movies Time for School Mouse As we have hit the 2nd half of the year, we are starting to run low on a few supplies that we use daily. If you are able to send in any of these supplies it would be greatly appreciated! -Black Dry Erase Markers -Pencil Cap Erasers -Paper Towels We have lots of events coming up. Today students received a brief history lesson on the traditions of Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday, and King Cakes. Thank you to Mrs. McClenning who donated King Cakes to our class! Some lucky students found the babies baked into the cake, others caught some beads, and some just got to enjoy a few variations of some delicious traditional king cake!
Happy Valentine's Day Week! I hope you are feeling the love this week. Please be sure to turn in your child's Valentine's box or bag on Monday! Also, just a reminder that we will be passing out Valentines in the afternoon on Wednesday. We have 21 students in our class. If your child chooses to bring Valentines, please ensure that they bring one for every child in the class. Thank you for your support and for the supplies for our Valentine's day activities.

In honor of the Winter Olympics beginning this week, we are asking that students dress in red, white, and blue standard attire on Thursday, February 8th in honor of the start of the games on Friday. Let's join together to cheer on Team USA!!

Valentine's Day Sign-Up Genius I am so proud of our students for working SO hard in class to make up for some of our "missed" time. Due to their hard work and diligence, we are back on track! Keep up the great work. Please be sure to continue to encourage them to wash their hands and keep them out of their eyes, nose, and mouth as the flu virus is still rampant. If your child is experiencing any symptoms, please take all of the proper precautions (See previous blog post).
A letter went home this week about Valentines Day boxes. Students should create a box or bag for their valentines that will be due on Monday, February 12th. Also, we will be passing out valentines in the afternoon of Valentines Day. A class list is attached to the letter that went home. Students should only bring valentines if they have one for EVERY student in the class. We want to make sure everyone feels the love on Valentines Day!
